Hymax® Two-Stage Seal: How it works

STEP 1
Pipe ends are stabbed into the coupling. The gasket teeth lock the removable inner layer of the gasket in place.
STEP 2
Compression bolts are tightened and the end ring compresses the gasket around the pipe for a mechanical seal.
STEP 3
Water flows into the pressure cavity through holes in the back of the pressure dam. This provides an additional hydraulic seal after the line is charged.
STEP 4
The inner layer of the gasket is removed to accomodate larger pipe diameters and the coupling still operates to its rated working pressure.
